How to Discuss your Erectile Dysfunction with Your Partner or Doctor

Erectile dysfunction (ED) can be an embarrassing and difficult situation to deal with for any man. It can make you feel inadequate, weak, or insufficient. Thankfully, ED is quite treatable, and doesn’t have to negatively impact your life or your self-esteem. Discussing ED with your partner or doctor can seem awkward at first, but it is important to talk about it to get the treatment you deserve. As doctors and medical experts treating ED at our men’s clinic in Tulsa, we’ve had years of experience helping men feel more comfortable talking about their ED. Here are a couple of tips to make the process of talking to your partner or doctor easier and more comfortable for you:

  1. Be honest about how you feel.

When opening up to your doctor or partner, it’s important to be honest about how the ED is affecting you. If you’re embarrassed or scared, share those feelings. This will help in getting you the right treatment for your ED, and will also help your doctor or partner understand how they can better help.

  1. Don’t be embarrassed about your ED.

So many men feel embarrassed to have ED, but it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. ED is a natural biological process for many men, and can often be caused by a lowering of testosterone as men age. As such, ED is a common occurrence for many men. When talking to your doctor or partner, you may feel embarrassed about your ED, but you shouldn’t need to. Getting over that embarrassment will help you to get the treatment you deserve, and lead you to a healthier and happier life.
